‘The Grinch that Stole Christmas’ and The Tribe

Last weekend there was a special charity event screening of ‘The Grinch that stole Christmas’ held at the very grand Embassy Theatre in Wellington. It was a star studded event with guests (children from charities) treated like stars themselves. Special celebrities who signed autographs included members of our very own Tribe cast, cast members from Peter Jacksons ‘Lord of the Rings’ including Sean Astin, Sporting celebrities, DJ’s, the Mayor.

We’re all going on a summer holiday!

Isn’t it cool to be having a balmy hot summer at Christmas time? Well you might disagree with me. I must say snow on trees, streets and buildings sure helps make a Christmas atmosphere.

Here in New Zealand it is the middle of summer during Christmas and temperatures are said to be reaching the 30’s (celsius). The sun here is also said to be much more intense than anywhere else in the world and at the moment there is a burn time of only 11 minutes.

So as we say in New Zealand ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’ on the sunscreen. Even during filming on location the makeup crew must really look after the Cast with sunsreens. These days most makeup used has a sunscreen built in to stop any sun damage.

NZ Prime Minister meets Tribe Fans and Ari Boyland – KC

You may have noticed a splash picture a few days ago with some children dressed in Tribal outfits, and sitting with a lady in the middle. Well the lady in the picture is the Rt Hon Helen Clarke, Prime Minister of New Zealand.

The Children in the picture are the local prizewinners for 2000 and were able to have a morning tea with the Prime Minister, along with Ari Boyland – KC, who presented her with a Tribe Abe Messiah CD.

Whats in store for 2001?

We will keep you informed of any news of the Tribe show and the Cast. Be sure to keep an eye out for word on Series IV of the Tribe, but in the meantime Cloud 9 will be filming a new comedy Series early in 2001 called Atlantis High.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year
