Tribe Summer Tour 2003 – Report 1

Sunday – 17th August – Tour Diary

All up at the crack of dawn with our luggage packed.  A sad goodbye to all our families and we were off to the airport.  Meryl, Caleb, Saranne and Emily all flew out from Wellington and arrived in Auckland to meet Beth as we all headed through to the Buisness Class Lounge to relax before the 11 hour flight to Singapore.  Lots of laughs as we caught up on what each other had been up to over the last few months.

We hopped on the flight and because we weren’t too tired we all watched movies for the entire flight.  Lots of good movies but we had to remind ourselves to save some to watch on the next flight!  Arrived in Singapore and made sure we got a little shopping in.  We freshened up in the lounge and then it was back on the plane for a 12 hour flight to Frankfurt.  We
were exhausted by now and slept most of the way.  Arrived in Frankfurt a little late and it was a mad dash through the terminals to our connecting flight to Madrid.  At the boarding gates we were told off by the guard that he was almost going to leave without us!  We got on the Spanair flight and the food was lovely – french toast, fruit and nice coffee.  A two hour
flight and we had landed in Madrid.

We were all so excited – none of us have been to Madrid before.  The weather was hot and sunny and after waiting quite a while for our bags we left for our hotel.

Its very nice hotel in the middle of the city.  We all freshened up and went and sat down for a drink.  Then we decided to head into the city and we ended up in a lovely square eating tapas and drinking huge amounts of water.

A quick rundown of what we were up to over the next couple of days and we sat down to practice our Spanish!  We’re not too bad!!

The heat and jet-lag was really draining us so we headed back to the hotel again.  After a quick de-brief about tomorrow we headed to bed for a well needed sleep.
